Gathering Chestnuts

i truly love where i live, the light, the dry Mediterranean climate with it's incredible growing season and bounty of wild treats on offer but even when you are totally content with your home it's still nice to go on an adventure and explore a new to you place. Last week we went up to the black mountains, only an hour in the car but a totally different place with lush forest floors and cool crisp air. Greens and blues instead of greys and reds, moss instead of clay, chestnuts everywhere you looked. The gathering was good, we filled our baskets full bringing home that   musty forest smell and memories of the crisp mountain air.
